Making Progress!!

Today was just like the old days in Harbin. Not in a bad way,  it's just that we stayed in the hotel room all day. As I've said, Chloe Grace has been leaning more towards Daddy and not towards Mama and me. Today started out a nightmare, but got better as time passed! At breakfast, all Chloe Grace wanted to do was sit in Daddy's lap, so he couldn't eat.  When he tried to put her in the high chair, she screamed her little heart out.  None of us sees how she can have a heart murmur with  her terrifyingly loud cries.  There were barely any people in the breakfast area--just two--, so we let her cry. Eventually she stopped, but wouldn't eat the rest of her breakfast. Mama, Hannah and I took Chloe Grace up to the room, which brought another whole round of screaming, but eventually she stopped and went to sleep. She slept until lunch, so Mama went to get Subway. Chloe Grace woke up while she was gone (Daddy was in the room with us by then) and I had to hold her. Daddy wanted her to keep away from him so she could bond with us.  She didn't cry much, then Daddy left the room. She pitched a fit, so we put her in the crib. We have two adjoining rooms by the way. She wasn't mad, so we took her out. Then she got mad. I sang to her when she had calmed down a little, and she loved it. Not to brag, but she did!! I miss singing and playing the piano sooooo much!! Swimming, too! We ate our Subway and just played and stayed with her in the room until around 2:30 or so. She had really gotten used to and liked me and Mama, so we decided to go for a walk (which means shopping to Mama). We managed to get her in the carrier on Mama and go to the stores. I think Chloe Grace thought we were taking her back to the doctor because she whimpered a little. When she realized we were just going shopping, she went with the flow and didn't cry at all. I was sooooo happy and proud of her. Mama has been happier today since Chloe Grace is being a people-person again. Right now, Mama is actually playing with her in her crib. I mean, Mama isn't in the crib, but Chloe Grace is. Haha!! It's Chloe Grace's bedtime, so I need to get ready for bed too.
Oh, btw, did you like my elephant ride video? I sure did. I think I looked more scared than I felt on the elephant. I'm not scared of heights, but still, it felt dangerous!! Haha again. At the zoo, there was a sign that said Don't Flap The Glass Please on one of the tank-thingies. I took a picture of it because it's supposed to say 'tap'. I think it's funny how they get stuff like that wrong sometimes! On the little fire escape thing on the back of our hotel room door, the stairs are marked 'staris'. I just noticed that today! They have a lot of grammar wrong, too, but I won't go into that. I'm going to be sooooooooooooo glad to get home, but I'm also dreading the plane ride. I thought plane rides were exciting, but after riding the first half of the one to China, I was sick of them already. Keep praying that Chloe Grace will keep getting better with Mama (and me!). I think they've really helped, and I hope she is the same tomorrow. We don't have to do anything tomorrow, so maybe we can stay in the hotel room and be with Chloe Grace again. I think it really helped, and I have a theory.
MaCayla's Theory About Chloe Grace's Bonding Issues:
In Harbin, Chloe Grace was fine with everyone in the family.  Those were the days that we stayed in the hotel. However, in Guangzhou, we started going out and one of the first places we went was the doctor--shots. When she started to not be very nice to me and Mama, it was in Guangzhou. I think it all contributes to her feelings. Not to worry, though, because she is better every second. Thank you for your prayers!

P.S. I also realized this afternoon that Chinese people that speak English have some sort of Italian accent. Yeah, I know, strange much? I'm telling the truth, though. It's like a mix of Chinese and Italian. I also tried to say "ya'll" with a British accent. Try it, it's a challenge. Well, you learn something new every day I guess. Especially when you're cooped up in a hotel room with nothing to entertain you but you're own lame humor! Anyway, Goodnight (or I guess good morning there!)!!

  1. So glad things are better. I'm proud of you being so mature about all of this. I know it is hard. CG will come around it will just take time. The elephant ride video was great! The little kids at church were so jealous! See you tommorrow after tommorow as Elizabeth says!

  2. Awesome news MaCayla, I'm so glad you are seeing an improvement. This settles my heart so much to hear, since I was getting quite concerned about it all.

  3. Hey, I just made a nice long post, and somehow
it got away from me!! Now I don't know what all
I said. Anyway, we went to Augusta this AM for
BP's appts. I saw where Daddy tried to call
but we left at 6:45, so sorry to miss that. I
thought maybe he was going to 'skype'. It
rained (sometimes just drizzled) on us all the
way, but Praise the Lord, we made it safely and
without any trouble. BP's X-rays were good, and
his therapist says he is doing good with that.

We have really been praying about Chloe's little
problems, and so very happy that things are
improving. "MaCayla's theory" may be right about
why she is being upset and we can understand that. BP said maybe she will sleep all the way
home, and we do pray all of you will have a good
flight, and be able to nap. I know you can't
wait to get in your own bed and to your normal
routine, and WE CAN'T EITHER!! I don't know
how your food will be on the plane on the way
back, but I will have something fixed for when you get here. Again, much love and so happy
and thankful you will be here soon!!
    MJ & BP
PS Loved the elephant ride video!
